Is the prompt clear and specific?
Do you have permission to the data?
Is the content in a system the AI can access?
Has the data been indexed, synced, or made available?
If the AI cannot access the data or understand the request, the output may look wrong even though the system is functioning correctly.
Step 2: Check Product Limitations
If access and prompting are correct, the next possibility is a capability gap.
AI interfaces feel flexible, but they are still constrained by:
What data is indexed or available
What actions are supported
What integrations exist
What the model is allowed to do
Common limitations include:
Missing or unsupported data types
Features not yet implemented
Actions requiring unavailable integrations
In this case, the behavior reflects a limitation—not a failure.
Step 3: Identify a Real Bug
If everything appears correct, you may be encountering a real issue.
Signs include:
The same request produces inconsistent results
A feature worked before and stopped
Others report the same issue
Actions fail despite correct setup
At that point, document the behavior and report it. Patterns help product teams identify and resolve issues faster.

Can I reproduce the issue?
Most problems reveal themselves quickly through this lens.
Why This Matters

Evolving capabilities
Shifting governance and permissions
Changing limits and pricing models
All AI interfaces operate across layers:
data → permissions → capabilities → interpretation
If any one layer breaks down, the experience feels inconsistent.
